New Hope’s DALE CARNEGIE
New Hope Housing broke ground in December 2018 on our NHH Dale Carnegie development, Houston’s first affordable housing community since Hurricane Harvey in August, 2017. Located on a 2-acre tract in the Sharpstown area in southwest Houston, Dale Carnegie offers a safe, stable place to call home.
NHH Dale Carnegie will offer 170 fully-furnished studio apartment units of between 280 and 360 square feet in an amenity-rich neighborhood. It will be conveniently located near transit options, immediately south of Harwin Drive at Regency Square, a commercial development community. The site will be less than one mile from BakerRipley’s signature campus and federally qualified health clinic, as well as a full-service grocery store, pharmacy, public library and higher education institutions.
Room features will include free utilities and cable TV access, refrigerator and microwave, and a private tiled bath. Residents will be able to enjoy a community theatre room, kitchen, library, business center, training room, coin-operated washer/dryer facilities and social service offices. The front desk will be staffed 24/7, with a single-point of entry and monitored security cameras.
The property will be a LEED certified development designed by GSMA, Inc.
NHH Dale Carnegie is scheduled to be completed in fall 2020.

New Hope’s AVENUE J
New Hope Housing Avenue J will offer affordable housing to people with modest incomes, including working families and those on a fixed income. Located in Houston’s vibrant, culturally-rich East End, Avenue J is New Hope’s 10th property. It will offer an affordable option in a rapidly gentrifying neighborhood with escalating rental rates. Avenue J will break ground in spring 2020.
This transit-oriented development will be close to job opportunities. Nearby amenities include a grocery store, pharmacy, library, public parks and schools. The property will feature an upper-level terrace with play equipment, seating areas and a panoramic view of downtown. Many of the living units will face the downtown skyline. Avenue J is designed to be an energy-efficient, sustainable development.
New Hope Housing Avenue J will offer 100 one- and two-bedroom apartment homes. Each will feature a full kitchen with granite countertops, quality cabinetry and a washer and dryer. Residents of this family-friendly property will enjoy the social room, the community dining room with its warming kitchen, a business center and covered parking. Rental rates will range from $700 to $1,000.
The City of Houston Housing and Community Development Department recently approved a grant of $12.5M in CDBG-Disaster Relief funding to bolster this effort.
