2424
Sakowitz
New Hope proudly announces the opening of 2424 Sakowitz, located in
Greater Fifth Ward/ Denver Harbor. Sakowitz is the first LEED certified
affordable housing in the State of Texas. The fact that Sakowitz is
‘supportive’ housing and that it achieved platinum certification—the
highest level—makes this distinction even more significant.

1414 Congress
Our 57-unit 1414 Congress SRO community reopened in 2010, preserving
affordable housing in downtown Houston. New Hope Housing formed an important
collaboration with Harmony House, Inc. This allows 1414 Congress to
offer intense supportive services for residents with substantial barriers
to housing stability—and to do so in a dignified, beautiful environment.

Brays Crossing
New Hope at Brays Crossing opened in 2010 with 149 affordable, efficiency
units. Located at I-45 South and Griggs Road, Brays Crossing integrates
important public art into its building design. The project’s four-panel
galvanized steel murals designed by Chicana artist Carmen Lomas Garza
buffer the noise from the busy highway, turning a former eyesore into
a community canvas.

demand for affordable SRO housing.
Recent
Awards and Publications
New Hope is honored by this recognition and believes that positive publicity
bolsters the efforts of all Houston organizations dedicated to developing
affordable housing. It demonstrates that affordable housing can be well
designed, well constructed, well managed, and fiscally responsible.
